Associate Design Director

Role:

We are seeking an experienced and thoughtful Associate Design Director to play a key role in leading, and substantiating exceptional design thinking and strategic design work for the world's highest-profile brands across a broad spectrum of digital products and services.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, build, and manage a team of international designers, defining the art and design direction of projects.
  • Translate brand values, creative concepts, UX documentation, and user stories into functional and expressive design solutions.
  • Work directly with clients and internal teams, pushing creative and technical boundaries beyond the original brief.
  • Employ problem-solving skills and a full stack of design solutions to guide projects and design teams from start to finish.
  • Present and substantiate work in person or through video calls during pitches, proposals, or production.
  • Provide verbal and written conceptual thinking and design rationale to articulate and strengthen proposals..
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Natural design leadership and teaching skills with a proven track record of fostering, growing, educating, motivating, and retaining a team of creative designers.
  • Approximately 8 years of relevant experience in digital and web design, demonstrating aesthetic excellence, presentation skills, research, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent social and communication skills, understanding how colleagues and clients work and think.
  • Ability to judge the quality of the user experience and articulate improvements needed.
  • Mindful of time, budget, and schedule, with flexibility and dedication to project success.
  • Creative & Client Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on creative design proposals in response to new business opportunities and RFPs, working closely with creative directors, UX/UI designers, producers, and growth specialists.
  • Ensure realistic and accurate schedules and deadlines, implementing necessary course corrections during any stage of the design process.
  • Craft and articulate convincing creative narratives and critical design rationales, presenting with passion to executive internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the provision of best-in-class service to clients, comprehending their needs, providing guidance, and setting up teams for success.
  • Provide guidance to teams and/or design leads on maintaining exceptionally high design standards within the Americas Team.
  • Team Responsibilities:

  • Help drive the management of design teams across time zones and cultures, contributing to the cultivation of an inspiring work culture within the Americas Design Team.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Leads on project execution and team management.
  • Assist your Manager in generating internal retention and team-building strategies, fostering communication with other offices for alignment on team initiatives.
  • Drive departmental growth through initiatives such as career advancement, performance evaluations, training, mentorship, recruitment, and related responsibilities.
  • Empower the team to advocate for their work and actively seek solutions to challenges encountered in their projects.
  • Establish and implement comprehensive design training programs that encompass best practices for the entire team.
