Position may be operating through our satellite office in Albuquerque, NM based on home address.

Why does the job exist?

This position exists to ensure New Mexico has systems in place to build a pipeline of qualified people to fill education vacancies across the state.

The Site Visit Coordinator will coordinate systems accountability and continuous improvement efforts to ensure the high quality of Educator Preparation programs across the state.

This position will also support the Professional Practice Standards Commission (PPSC) and facilitate and monitor Site Visits of Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) across the state.

They will lead the evaluation and monitoring of all current and new Educator Preparation programs in the state through the continuous collection and evaluation of the Educator Accountability Report (EAR data).

They will work in partnership with national accredited bodies and through the state comprehensive review process to streamline the site review process for all EPPs according to their scheduled renewal.

The Site Visit coordinator will facilitate improved alignment between what is happening in our preparation programs and what is happening every day in our PK-12 classrooms.

This position will serve as the liaison between the department and educator prep programs in New Mexico.

How does it get done?

Program Accountability and Site Visits

  • Support and help facilitate national accreditation joint review focused on PK12 outcomes for all four year programs
  • Implement state approval Site Visits focused on PK12 outcomes for all two-year and alternative programs.
  • Collect and evaluate Educator Accountability Report (EARs) data and national accreditation data for yearly continuous improvement discussions with all NM approved Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs).
  • Engage and support EPPs with innovative recruitment practices
  • Provide technical assistance to all EPPs
  • Ensure EPPs have adopted an adequate framework for teacher preparation that partners with district, educators, communities and families
  • Support work of alignment and articulation across all EPPs.

Support the Professional Practice Standards Commission (PPSC)

Support organization and attend all PPSC meetings to facilitate all program approval and revision processes.

Communicate and support programs in preparation for program approval or revision

Reviewing and evaluation documents related to program approval and revision submitted prior to PPSC presentations.

Who are the customers?

All NM LEAs, EPPs and education stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have :

5 or more years of experience in leading the design and development of professional learning for adults, work in the field of education is a plus

Experience working in a college or university setting, work in a college of education is a plus

Educated in adult learning theory

5 or more years of experience in a PK-12 setting.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and / or program administrator.

  • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
  • If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications.

No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.

Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
