Mission and objectives
With its establishment on 7 April 1948, WHO works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. WHO’s goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being.
Context
The WHO PHHE in Istanbul is serving as the Secretariat for a new project titled the "Pan-European Network for Disease Control." This initiative brings together 31 sub-regional or national institutions from 17 WHO/Europe Member States, including from Eastern-europe. We are proposing to conduct an Orientation Session to introduce the network to its members.All the materials for this session have been developed in English and will require translation into Russian. Additionally, Simultaneous Interpretation services will be necessary during the session, scheduled for January 31, 2024, between 14:00 and 16:00 CET (16:00-18:00 Istanbul time).It's worth noting that this project is a flagship initiative of the new WHO/Europe Preparedness 2.0 strategy, with the primary goal of strengthening detection, preparedness, response, and resilience for emergencies in the Region.Selected volunteers will have a chance to learn more on the WHO Regional work while supporting the team at first hand.We expect the selected online volunteers to provide support for translating 1 or 2 short documents from English to Russian and attend the meeting on 31 January 2024, between 4-6 pm, Türkiye time.
Task description
We are looking for three online volunteers who will be supporting with translation from English to Russian of a couple of short documents and English-Russian Simultaneous Interpretation, with experience preferably in the health sector. Session is entitled “Pan European Network for Disease Control Orientation Session” and will be held virtually, focusing on presentation of the Network to newly selected members and answers to their potential questions. The agenda will be made available to the online volunteers who are supporting with the interpretation beforehand, in English.Each online volunteer will be supporting the Simultaneous Interpretation around 40 minutes – 1 hour.
