Field Service Representative

Full time

We have an exciting opportunity, located at RAF Marham, Norfolk for a Field Service Representative (FSR) role to support the UK’s F-35B Lightning fleet. 

The contracted support requirements for this aircraft extend beyond the scope of the FSR’s core technical role, this will include aspects of fleet and logistics management, propulsion systems maintenance, data interpretation and manipulation, and delivery of the Foreign Object Damage (FOD) service, alongside more traditional product support to the R-R LiftSystem.

Although the successful candidate could rotate through the various support function roles at Marham, their initial placement will be to act as the Station FOD Prevention Officer (SFODPO) to provide support to the UK Lightning Force at RAF Marham.  The key element of this activity is to actively engage with all customer and support agencies to carry out FOD Audits, highlight FOD awareness, its prevention and corrective practices in order to drive down engine FOD events and improve Flight Safety.

The successful individual will be on Fixed Terms and Conditions at RAF Marham but there is a future potential requirement to deploy in support of the UK Customer under Contractors on Deployed Operations (CONDO) regulations for short periods not exceeding 90 days to locations globally, including shipborne detachments on the Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers.

What you will be doing:

To actively engage with all customer and support agencies to promote FOD awareness, its prevention, reporting and mitigating actions in order to drive down both the engine FOD rejection rate and all other FOD occurrences.  To manage FOD issues relating to the operation and support of all military and visiting aircraft and the military base infrastructure to include but not exclusively:

  • Raising and commenting on customer Defence Flight Safety Occurrence Reports (DASOR)
  • Chairing, organising and attending meetings within the Station Safety Management System
  • Carry out regular reviews of the FOD Management Service its plans and procedures and propose / introduce / facilitate improvement activities as required
  • Carry out routine FOD audits, set audit standards and communicate FOD occurrences and rates through regular reporting.

The successful candidate should also be capable of undertaking the required training in order to become qualified to assist in the delivery of the contracted F-35B Propulsion Systems Maintenance Service.

Who we are looking for?

  • Able to work in both a solo capacity or as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Trained within the propulsion trade, or a relevant Engineering/Service Engineering discipline
  • Have recent Fast Jet engine experience, knowledge and associated competencies
  • Self-starter, flexible and highly motivated to succeed
  • Articulate and confident to chair meetings and deliver presentations to the right level and content to suit various assembled audiences
  • Familiar with MS Office applications and preferably customer IT systems.
