The Legal Department has several key operations to fulfill our obligations to regulatory oversight and investigative bodies.

This includes complying with regulations set by domestic and international legal entities that oversee our business, as well as cooperating with civil and criminal investigation authorities and adversarial counsel.

The Legal Department is organized into Practice Groups that align with the Firm's line of business and corporate staff areas.

Each Practice Group is led by a General Counsel who reports to the Firm's General Counsel. This structure allows for effective communication between the Legal teams and the business and staff areas, ensuring that legal and regulatory changes are promptly shared and that business developments with legal or regulatory implications are effectively communicated to the Legal teams.

In-House Legal Services (ILS) collaborates with senior management, control groups, lines of business, and corporate units to ensure effective governance of the Firm, its branches, subsidiaries, and affiliates.

ILS operates through a corporate team and three regional hubs in North America, EMEA, and APAC. ILS also works closely with the Firm's Corporate Secretaries / Corporate Governance Contacts (CGC) and interfaces regularly with stakeholders on governance matters.

Currently, we are seeking a Global Signing Authority - AVP (Assistant Vice President), Sr. Counsel, Team Lead to be based in Argentina.

This role will support the Global Signing Authority team (GSA) and directly manage the BACC team.

The Global Signing Authority AVP, Sr. Counsel, Team Lead will have the responsibility of leading a team of legal operations professionals.

The main objective of this role is to establish a strong partnership with the direct / global manager and CGCs (Corporate Governance Contacts) on a global scale.

Additionally, the role may also involve overseeing the delivery of one or more corporate governance functions, with a specific focus on a particular Line of Business (LOB), Corporate Function, or geographical area.

Duties include, but are not limited to :

Working in conjunction with the direct / global manager and other regional team leads to gain managerial experience in various areas : Engaging team members in local initiatives and providing on-site team oversight and support.

Partnering with the direct / global manager to coach employees and help them achieve priorities or deliver development messages.

Providing feedback to the direct / global manager on local execution. Interviewing candidates in partnership with the direct / global manager and HR, and actively participating in the onboarding process.

Driving positive employee experience and satisfaction by including team members in engagement initiatives and facilitating networking locally.

Escalating issues, including conduct, motivational, performance, or regulatory matters. Conducting regular check-ins with team members.

Providing feedback to local team members and working with the direct / global manager in year-end reviews.

  • Responding to firm-wide inquiries through the firm’s central request system, related to corporate governance responsibilities, legal entity matters, Signing Authority matters, and other relevant topics.
  • Reviewing various Signing Authority instruments, such as Powers of Attorney, Dual Hats, Delegations of Authority, etc.
  • Preparing Powers of Attorney, Bank History Requests, Incumbency and Secretary Certificates, as required.
  • Providing project-related support and research, as requested.
  • Assisting with the project management of internal Reorganization and Capital Action Plans (RCAs).
  • Drafting and sending communications to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining internal workspaces, iManage or similar, databases, and SharePoint sites.

  • Hands-on management style, actively engaging in and contributing to the day-to-day work alongside employees and direct reports, while also providing effective leadership and guidance.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly detail-oriented and results-driven, with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify issues requiring escalation or special attention.
  • Takes accountability for work product and follows through to completion with proper follow-up, resolving errors.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills Required.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities :

  • Law Degree and at least 5 years of related experience in corporate governance or a similar position in large corporation or law firm.
  • Experience managing a team with a large workload.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, and Access Database. Strong presentation skills.
  • Experience with Corporate Governance databases and applications (., GEMS) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong analytical, research, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
