FCDO Grants and Programmes Advisor 

Location: UK Flexible Location 

Contract type: 2 year FTC (with the possibility of further extension)

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £36,923 - £40,879 per annum (Plus London weighting if applicable)

Embark on a pivotal role shaping humanitarian initiatives by leading the identification and development of funding opportunities for FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office). As the heart of this strategic partnership, you will provide expert guidance to British Red Cross (BRC) teams globally on engagement and funding.

 

At the forefront of collaboration between BRC and FCDO, you will navigate funding intricacies to enable a strong humanitarian partnership between BRC and the UK Government. You will collaborate with international and domestic colleagues.

Wondering about a day in the life of a Grants and Programmes Advisor? You'll be:

  • Identifying programme funding opportunities for collaboration with partners, and providing advice to BRC, IFRC and National Societies on partnering with FCDO.
  • Leading multi-million pound proposals, including consortia arrangements with RC and non-RC partners, budgeting and programme designs with regional and technical teams.
  • Managing proposal development ensuring decision making processes – Go/No Go – are followed. This includes an assessment of opportunities to be pursued, contract terms and conditions, prospects of support, and budgets/costs
  • Advising country and regional teams on engagement with FCDO. This includes their development of country engagement plans and in relation to specific issues with IFRC and BRC heads of offices.
  • Developing tools and training on FCDO to ensure effective resource utilization for securing funding and efficient project management. 
  • Providing advice to BRC and partners on the application of contractual terms and conditions including their translation into practice for partners.
  • Providing support to strategic engagement e.g. FCDO-BRC dialogues and quarterly briefings.

To excel as Grants and Programmes Advisor, what will you need?

  • A track record in writing and securing large and multi-partner bids for FCDO or other Government donors.
  • Experience in building and developing partnerships and relationships for new programme and consortium funding.
  • Experience in leading budget development, including compliance with internal finance policies and donor, ideally FCDO, requirements.
  • Expertise in delivering programme designs and programme management in development and humanitarian settings overseas through postings or multiple programme visits.
  • Experience directing or facilitating program/proposal development workshops.
  • Cultural fluency and adeptness navigating multicultural environments.
