Context
This UNV assignment will be part of OCHA’s Regional Liaison Office (OCHA RLO) and will be directly assigned to supporting the Office’s work on coordinating the humanitarian response to the occupied Palestinian Territory from Egypt. Following the dramatic events that took place in Israel and oPt on 7 October, OCHA RLO has been scaling up and supporting the humanitarian community’s efforts to provide assistance to the oPt from Egypt.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of Head of coordination, the UN Volunteer will: • Support coordinated humanitarian operational preparedness for, and response to the emergency in the oPt. • Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments, disaster relief/management or emergency situations in oPt; • Follow developments in oPt, keep relevant country profile up-to-date, interact with the Resident Coordinator’s Office coordination specialist, and highlight any issues of concern to feed into the daily operational update. • Produce analytical notes to better understand political and conflict dynamics in the region, in support of preparedness and operational work in the region. • Make contacts and nurture relationships with key interlocuters in your countries of responsibility and thematic areas. • Develop or feed into any country/thematic reports/documents that might be required e.g. snapshots, outlooks, sitreps, etc. • Assist in the production of appeals for international assistance - including Humanitarian Needs Overviews, Humanitarian Response Plans and Flash Appeals - in the region, with a focus on oPt. • Organize and participate in meetings, conferences and consultations with other agencies and partners on humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters in the region, with a focus on oPt.
