The Legal Department has a number of key operations to meet our obligations to various regulatory oversight and investigative bodies as necessary. While this position may work on any area within the Legal Department, one area of focus is the Office of the Secretary (“OTS”)that partners with senior management, control groups, lines of business and corporate units to promote effective governance of the firm, its bank branches, subsidiaries and affiliates which also includes effective legal entity mismanagement oversight and administration. OTS also works closely with the firm’s subsidiary Board of Directors and is responsible for the coordination of Board meetings and materials.
Job summary
The Legal Control Analyst is responsible for providing support and assistance for the implementation, management and support of controls and Quality Assurance (QA) programs, as well as other control-related initiatives needed to support and strengthen the Legal Department Control l environment with respect to OTS and other assigned sub -departments. An important aspect of this position is to provide support and assistance to the Control team members as they work to support that the design and operation of OTS controls, QA, Quality Control (QC) and other control-related programs function effectively as designed on a consistent basis. This function will also serve to conduct analysis to support Control team members as they seek to provide control consultation, advice and assistance across OTS operations.
Job Responsibilities
Provide support and assistance to the Legal Controls Team by:
- Preparing analysis of processes to identify areas for control process improvement.
- Providing support to Control team members in conducting Compliance & Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) Program testing and other associated control initiatives across all OTS global operations.
- Assist in the identification of operational risks and in the design, development and implementation of effective controls to mitigate such risks to an acceptable level.
- Assist in the review and assessment of the effectiveness of existing controls and make recommendations to enhance such controls where required.
- Assist in the preparation of operational risk & control awareness communications and training sessions.
- Assist in the maintenance of Business Resiliency Plans.
- Providing support and assistance to the Corporate Legal Controls staff members in carrying out their oversight responsibilities, including the preparation for Compliance reviews and internal audits.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 1 to 2 Years of operational business experience
- Possesses sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity, and resourcefulness, probing and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information and propose meaningful recommendations.
- Basic understanding of operational Risk including, but not limited to process mapping, risk and controls management, issues management, and audit best practices.
- Effective critical thinking, project management, analytical and communications skills (written and oral)
- BA/BS required.
- MS Office Skills.
