The IRC has been working in Kenyasince 1992, providing crucial services across the two refugee camps, Dadaab andKakuma, and a number of counties (Garissa, Turkana, Samburu, Kajiado, Lamu andNairobi) implementing programs in the sectors of health, nutrition, governance& rights, women’s protection & empowerment, Economic Recovery andDevelopment, as well as providing emergency response through a network of fieldoffices and a range of institutional and community-based partnerships.
Working under the guidance of theSenior Nutrition Officer, the Nutritionist will be the team leader and will beresponsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Emergency grant Nutritioninterventions on MIYCN practices:
They will be responsible forday-to-day data compilation.
Key Responsibilities
- In support of the nutritionofficer plan and support the distribution of family MUAC tapes to families inthe targeted areas.
- In collaboration with the ministryof health conduct trainings to M2MSGs on MIYCN practices during Covid – 19Pandemic.
- Train and mentor familiesincluding CHEWs and CHVs on family MUAC approach.
- Support the nutrition officer inthe development of wok plans for the activities to be implemented.
- Plan and conduct trainings onGrowth Monitoring Promotion (GMP), IMAM and MIYCN to other mainstream healthprofessionals.
- Offer nutrition support throughcounselling to individuals with medical conditions including Comprehensive CareClinic clients.
- Compile and submit donor and IRCNutrition Program weekly, biweekly, and monthly reports of all the activitiesimplemented.
- Support the nutrition officer inMonitoring budget spending in line with spending plan and ensure diligence ingrants utilization including timely spending and value for money.
- Liaise with supply ChainDepartment in logistical program supplies, procurement and monitor supplycontrol.
- Support MOH on DQAs.
- Any other duties assigned by thesupervisor.
