Job Description

Philanthropy Officer
Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £31,352 - £32,919 with excellent benefits
Location: London, UK
Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in London office, or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base.

About the Team:
The WaterAid Philanthropy & Trusts team is a dynamic and ambitious group of 13 people who are committed to building WaterAid's most significant relationships with philanthropists and trusts. The team has been earmarked as an area for growth under our new UK Fundraising Strategy, so now is an exciting time to join, helping to shape our team trajectory and achieve our vision!
About the Role:
As our ambitious and driven Philanthropy Officer you will work with existing philanthropic supporters of WaterAid's work, and also drive efforts to recruit new partners. You will collaborate with colleagues in the UK and across the world to develop compelling proposals and reports, provide excellent stewardship and meet with donors to understand their motivations, cultivating mutually beneficial relationships.

  • In this role, you will implement the highest standards of donor stewardship as well as proactively developing new philanthropic partnerships.
  • Implement the highest standards of donor stewardship to effectively and creatively manage a varied portfolio of philanthropic supporters, with the propensity to give between £10,000 - £50,000 per year.
  • Manage and proactively develop partnerships to reach their full potential, demonstrating ambition and innovation in your approach.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and deliver appropriate and innovative engagement and stewardship opportunities for existing and potential philanthropy partners.
  • Work with team members to write high quality engagement plans, donor briefs, communications, proposals and reports for submission to partners and prospects.

About you:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience and understanding of successful stewardship and fundraising
  • A passion for WaterAid's work

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

  • Experience working for an international organisation or in the charity sector.
  • Experience raising 5-6 figure gifts from a philanthropic audience.
