Production And Women Empowerment Project Officer

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. BDF's core mission is to provide access to education, health, and social services to the most vulnerable children living in urban slums and construction site camps in Thailand. 

Dao Ethical Gifts (DEG)  is a Thai-registered Social Enterprise. DEG was initiated and recognized as Baan Dek Foundation's spin-off social enterprise. DEG works closely with Baan Dek Foundation's Women Empowerment program to empower skills and generate extra income for marginalized women and mothers living in urban slums. DEG produces customizable products that offer a meaningful alternative to traditional corporate gifts.

Main responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to, the following:

The Project Officer is responsible for coordinating and managing the production process for Dao Ethical Gifts (DEG) producers, identifying their training needs and providing administrative and logistical support to the Women's Empowerment Program (WEP) team.

WEP -  Key Responsibilities: Sewing and handcrafting Training officer 

• Training to fulfill the order for the women that are not in the level of skills - Capacity Building - 

• Collaborate with the WEP Team for outsourcing new Secondary Layers producers.

• Collaborate with WEP to Ensure Home based production thanks to workstation installation and training. 

DAO EG - Key Responsibilities: Production coordination 

Coordination with Dao Ethical Gifts (DEG)/ DEG Production officer: 

• As per the MoU between BDF and DEG, support in the sustainability of women involved in the project.

Orders fulfillment 

• Coordinate and create product prototypes and mock up if needed  - Establish and maintain a list of Products sample and descriptions for easy coordination and training  — 

• Sources and purchase appropriate materials where Price and Quality is align with the best interest of DEG  -Keep track on all external suppliers) 

• Creates or adjust a comprehensive Cost of Production for each product once needed (both prototypes and orders) and diligently share them with DAO BKK- team and  store them in the COP file for easy reference. (Use the template but keep track on all COP linked to all products) 

• Coordinate and oversees Product Training if needed.

• Outreach producers and coordinate producers workload (Make sure to have enough producers, coordinated with WEP primary producers work distribution and complete with secondary if needed) 

• Coordinates and ensure rigorous quality control measures throughout the production stages - 

• Coordinate orders packing process 

• Coordinate the shipping process (National and international ) to meet client expectations. (Establish and maintain a clear Database of Distribution companies aligned with Time and Budget expectations) 

Planning/Producers management and  procurement

• Coordinate administrative and logistical aspects with DAO EG producers, ensuring compliance with DEG's policies, including contracts and payment procedures for both producers and suppliers. Ensure regularly administrative paperwork and payment of producers

• (Keep track on administrative documents needs, but also on work related order : Maintain organized files for DEG producers, ensuring accurate data collection on work/ level/remuneration and  when orders are received.

• Oversee and coordinate producers workload, (including both first-layer and second-layer producers) Establish and Maintain a production plan and clear follow up  and having effective and efficient forecasting in order to coordinate training if necessary 

• Outreach new secondary layers producers if needed in order to grow the skills producers pool.

Supplier/ Stock and Inventory Management 

• Proactively build a network of reliable fabric suppliers, and explore opportunities for identifying upcycled fabrics. (Establish and maintain a comprehensive database for easy reference.) 

• Coordinated and Ensure Inventory management 

• Facilitate product training initiatives for DEG producers, ensuring they are well-equipped and informed to meet quality and production standards.

• Ensures quality checks are integrated into every stage of the production procedure, maintaining a keen eye on the production process from start to finish.

Qualifications

Nationality:  Thai 

Education/ Experience: Any or relevant to the job position 

Language Skills : Thai Language Skill (Main Language : fluently on listening, speaking, reading and writing) and can communicate in English. (To be considered as an asset when having communication skills in Burmese or Thai Yai Languages.) 

Skills and experience

• Experienced on work related to women empowering, special cases supporting,  social development, Community development and other related works.

• Experienced on work related to SME, Social Enterprise, Selling, Fashion Design or Other Product Design.

• If Candidate has sewing skills, is experienced with sewing machines or handicraft skills. Will be considered as an asset.

• Have community activity organizing skills. Especially on women and children.

• Computer Skills : MS and other design software.

• If Candidate has working experience with NPOs or Civil Society, will be considered as an asset.

Working hours: Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings

POSITION SUMMARY : Baan Dek Foundation is looking for a new knowledge and talented person to work as a Production and Women Empowerment Project (WEP) Officer. The Project Officer supports the BDF organization in achieving goals and support women empowering activities and projects. Production and Women Empowerment Project Officer will work under the DEG manager Co-supervisor with the WEP Manager, is based in Chiang Mai and Bangkok,  but will have to work closely with both team members.
