Intern pay will be hourly, and rate of pay will depend on level of education and experience. The salary for this internship is as follows for U.S.-based interns.
If not U.S.-based, there will be an adjustment to the hourly amount based on cost of living and local market rates of the country in which candidates are based:
- Undergraduate student: $19.00/hour
- Recent graduate: $22.00/hour
- Master’s degree student: $29.00/hour
About this role
Location: Remote, but interns must be based in the US, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Morocco, DRC, Uganda, Malawi, or Mozambique
Deadline: We will accept applications until February 28th, 2024
Reports to: Director, Safeguarding and Recipient Advocacy
Number of positions to be filled: 1
Responsibilities:
- Conduct desk research on advocacy events relevant to GD's work
- Coordinate administrative logistics related to case reporting and management (suggestion boxes, posters etc)
- Supporting development of safeguarding improvement tolls and dissemination of the same
- Conduct desk research on best practices in the sector for safe cash programming
Education Requirement:
- Master’s degree student in Communications, International Relations, Diplomacy or other relevant major.
Skills Requirement:
- Ability to coordinate tasks across teams and countries
- Some experience working with rural communities
- Previous experience in humanitarian, child protection, safeguarding is an added advantage
- Experience with writing reports and general knowledge management
- Ability to conduct issue-based research for conceptualization of decisions
- Experience coordinating internal and external partners
- Above average competence in using Microsoft suite

About the hiring process
Format: The hiring process follows the same general outline for all open roles:
First interview (30 mins)Take home skills assignment (~2 hours)Second interview (1 hour)*Third interview (1 hour)*Final interview (1 hour)Reference checks (30 mins each)
*For some roles, second & third interviews are combined into a panel interview. If there are adjustments or variations on this process, those changes will be communicated during the first interview.
Venue: We conduct interviews over Google Meet with camera on (unless communicated otherwise).
