UNICEF Papua New Guinea is seeking to engage a Short-Term Communication Consultant to provide specific communication support for the development of short videos and organize all communication and advocacy assets for the country office for easy access by all.

With over 850 indigenous languages and one of the most ethnically diverse populations, widespread poverty, and gender inequality make it hard for many children to realize their rights. In Papua New Guinea, UNICEF’s works effectively both ‘upstream’ (with governments) and ‘downstream’ (at the grassroots level) to carry out its mission through a programme of cooperation jointly developed with the government guides our work in the country.

 

How can you make a difference? 

Background

 Over the past five years, the country office has produced numerous communication assets to support communication and advocacy requirements. These include communication products (photos, videos, IEC material, advocacy material etc) which are kept by relevant programmes that produce them.

Purpose and Objective

The purpose and objective of this consultancy is two-fold: 1. To provide specific communication support for the development of short videos 2. Organise all communication and advocacy assets for the country office for easy access by all.

Scope of Work:

· Provide communication support for the production of 20 videos for country office,

· Undertake relevant actions to create a central knowledge repository for all communication and advocacy assets produced by the country office. Tasks and activities: Working closely with programmes; · Develop scripts and storyboards for 20 short videos,

· Collect, systematize and organize all communication and advocacy assets,

· Create a repository for all assets – photos, videos, raw footage, IEC material, advocacy materials

 

* This Short Term consultancy is for 30 days.

 

As a champion for every child, qualifications are… 

  • Bachelors in (Media studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication or Humanities field)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communication related field; experience working in the development sector.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concepts in written and oral form; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Previous UN experience is an added advantage
  • Fluency required in English and any other UN language is an asset.

This position is a short-term assignment and doesn’t give rise to a long-term permanent post with the organization.

Applicants are required to include in their applications a financial proposal which includes a lumpsum amount for consultancy fees, local transportation, and other miscellaneous costs. Breakdown or details of the fee will be much appreciated.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
