ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Embark on a dynamic career at Avaya, where your role as a seasoned UX Designer merges seamlessly with your responsibilities as a UX Design Researcher. In this multifaceted position, you'll engage in diverse projects spanning mobile, web, AI, and experimental solutions. From ideation to execution, you will be an integral part of the entire design journey, collaborating closely with our dynamic teams of software developers, project managers, and clients.

Core Responsibilities
As a Lead UX Design Researcher/Designer, you'll go beyond the conventional, tackling challenges that touch on various features and technologies. Your primary focus will be on conducting in-depth research to decipher user behaviors, needs, and motivations. Your insights will serve as the bedrock for shaping user-centric design solutions, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience. This unique dual role positions you at the intersection of design thinking and research, creating a holistic approach that drives innovation and excellence in our pursuit of elevated customer experiences.

Day-to-day activities
Leadership Experience:
•    Demonstrate expertise in team and project management, leading UX design projects from inception to completion.
•    Independently work while mentoring junior team members, solving problems adeptly across multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Communication:
•    Effectively communicate with non-designers, particularly developers and QA, showcasing excellent English communication skills.
•    Articulate design decisions with precision in both written and verbal communication, excelling in presentation skills.
 

ABOUT YOU

What can you bring?
Previous experience & knowledge (essential & desirable)
•    4+ years of experience conducting research, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
•    Experience researching the end-to-end User Experience.
•    Interest in partnering with teammates to increase understanding of user research.
•    Excellent story-telling abilities and facilitation skills.
•    Ability to communicate and coordinate cross-functionally to engage stakeholders from across the organization.
•    Willingness to take the initiative, run with projects, and speak up when support and guidance are needed.

Qualifications, certifications, education or alternative expected
•    Undergraduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Interaction Design (IxD), Graphic Design, Cognitive Science, or a related field OR comparable UX research experience.
•    Bonus Points:
o    Graduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Market and Business research, or a related experience.
o    Demonstrated experience in designing for accessibility.
