Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship
In the Navigation Directorate's activities, the Cybersecurity Audits play a major role in the security assurance process, contributing to the cybersecurity risks management associated to the organization and infrastructure, in particular of the navigation systems (e.g. Galileo) the directorate delivers to its customers. The Cybersecurity Audits are part of the European Space Security Policy for the Navigation Programs.
The Young Graduate Trainee will work within the Navigation Security Office and will be part of the ESA GNSS Cyber Internal Auditor team in charge of the Cybersecurity Audits performed within the ESA Navigation Directorate.
The main role of the Young Graduate Trainee will be to analyse the impact within the scope of the Cyber Internal Audits of the new European Union cybersecurity regulations that will came into force in the next years, as the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union, repealing Directive (EU) (NIS2), the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the respect for private life and the protection of personal data in electronic communications and repealing Directive 2002/58/EC (Regulation on Privacy and Electronic Communications) or the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonized rules on artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Act) and amending certain union legislative acts. Additionally, the Young Graduate Trainee will contribute for the design and development of a cyber legal compliance tool that will be integrated within the Cyber Internal Audit Framework. Currently, this Framework is shared with more than twenty companies.

Education
You should have just completed or be in the final year of your master’s degree in Engineering, Science or Law.
Additional requirements
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multi-cultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
