Aajeevika Bureau is a labour rights organisation based out of Udaipur, working with a vision to secure dignified lives for communities dependent on informal labour and migration (www.aajeevika.org). Aajeevikaworks mainly along thewestern Indian migration corridors and, throughanetworkoffacilitationcentres,offersservicesandsolutionstomigrantworkersandtheir families. These centres are based at the source (in Rajasthan) and destination (in Gujarat and Maharashtra).

Aajeevika’s programmes in Gujarat focus on empowering informal workers from Rajasthan, Gujarat,Madhya Pradesh,UP,Bihar,andJharkhandintheconstruction, textile, andmanufacturing sectors. Across Gujarat, Aajeevika runs Worker Facilitation Centres, providing legal aid, linking workers with entitlements, collectivising workers, and advocating for decent living conditions. Action research has been the core of our work, leading to new interventions and evidence for advocacy for workers’ rights.

Position:Associate-KnowledgeandResearch Location: Ahmedabad

Aajeevika Bureau is looking for a young woman researcher to join the team in Ahmedabad to conduct action research and contribute to publications, programmes, and advocacy for women construction workers and other informal sector women workers.

Keyresponsibilities:

• Conduct participatory action research on labour and gender, employing an intersectional feminist lens.
• Engageindatacollection,analysis,andinterpretationtogenerateevidence-based recommendations for policy and advocacy purposes.
• Organiseandparticipateincommunitymeetingsandcapacity-buildingworkshopsfor women workers and leaders.
• Collaborate with team members to produce high-quality publications, reports, and policy briefs based on research findings.
• Contribute to crafting and implementing action plans to improve the working conditions and claim the rights of women workers.

Qualifications:

• Postgraduatefromauniversityofreputein arelevantfield.
• One or two years of experience in research or policy advocacy initiatives with a focus on labour rights and gender issues.
• Commitmenttofeministprinciples andethicsinresearchand advocacy.
• Stronganalyticalandcriticalthinking skills.
• Basicknowledgeofquantitativeandqualitativeresearchmethodsandadvanced knowledge in one.
• Excellentwriting andcommunication skills;arecord ofindependentwriting inEnglish is highly desirable.

Weare seeking acolleaguedeeply committedto labourrightsandgenderjustice. Thispositionis not a desk job; a willingness and ability to travel widely and engage with worker communities, trade unions, and other stakeholders is a critical requirement. The role will excite those keen on engaging with and contributing to labouring communities and who wish to make their research and writing stimulate change on the ground. Senior team members will collaborate, guide, and handhold the researcher.

Remuneration:
