Interpreting Manager and Vendor Liaison

Language Scientific Inc. is looking for a full-time, remote Interpreting Manager and Vendor Liaison contractor to join our growing Operations team.
We are looking for driven candidates who will further enhance and support our Operations mission and vision.
This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining the quality, capacity, and integrity of our interpreting resources and managing interpreting projects.
The other core component of the role will be working with Vendor Management to grow our freelance team of professional linguists, including translators, editors, as well as interpreters.
This role will be a critical link between the wider operations team and our valued freelance partners, as well as a highly visible role with our interpreting clients.

- You will recruit affordable, qualified vendors based on organizational needs. You will be responsible for identifying and testing potential candidates.
- You will be responsible for managing interpreting projects, internal LS processes relating to interpreting and P / L for the service.

Qualifications / Experience :
- Experience managing interpreting projects.
- Professional interpreting experience preferred.
- Experience in vendor onboarding / management preferred.
- Fluency in English.
Main Responsibilities :
The main responsibilities of this role will be managing interpreting projects and working with the vendor management on vendor recruitment and Vendor pool maintenance.
- As the primary PM of the Interpreting Department, you will manage interpreting assignments for specific clients. This includes :
- Manage the interpreting project from initiation to invoicing and project closure.
- Help educate clients on various aspects of interpreting projects and provide recommendations on the number and type of interpreters needed for a particular assignment, equipment requirements, how to set up interpreting channels on Zoom and similar platforms, etc.
- Contact interpreters from LS’ interpreter pool for incoming projects
- Recruit interpreters from outside the LS pool.
- Decrease departmental costs via lower-cost provider prioritization and recruitment.
- Liaise with clients and client partners for pre-session / session needs.
- Educate clients on the optimal use of interpreters, when they need simultaneous vs. consecutive, how many interpreters are appropriate for the situation at hand, etc.
- Monitor interpreting sessions remotely, as applicable.
- Maintain project records and client feedback.
- Assist with the expansion of the interpreting department and processes.
- As a member of the Vendor Management Department, you will identify and initiate discussions with relevant parties, guiding candidates through our accreditation processes. This includes :
- Maintain strong relationships with the LS vendor community.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from the vendors.
- Assist vendors with onboarding processes.
- Assist Project Managers with ad hoc project / client recruitment needs.
- Audit records and provide KPIs to the Vendor Manager.
- Assist with documentation maintenance.
