BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGMENT:
Background:
WFP is committed to uphold a zero-tolerance policy to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). WFP’s Executive Director's Circular on Protection from Sexual
Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) was updated in May 2023. It implements the United Nations Secretary-General’s Bulletin, Special measures for protection from
sexual exploitation and sexual abuse (ST/SGB/2003/13).
In January 2024, WFP will take on the role of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Championship on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and
Sexual Harassment (PSEAH). As Champion, WFP will lead and bolster the IASC’s collective efforts to achieve a humanitarian and development system free from
all forms of sexual misconduct. The Championship role will include setting up three priority areas and accompanying initiatives.
The Ethics Office (ETO) has been designated as the Organizational Focal Point for matters involvingsexual exploitation and abuse. The ETO PSEA Unit provides
strategic direction and action on and for the prevention of and the protection
from SEA in WFP. In collaboration with the UN system and the humanitarian community,
it will also be taking a technical lead role in supporting the Executive Director in the
Championship role.
The selected candidate will report to the Senior Advisor (PSEA) and work collaboratively with other members of the Ethics Office and other divisions/units in WFP
and in the greater IASC members.
The selected candidate will work on PSEA with a focus on supporting the Championship role, supporting the preparation, coordination and delivery of priority
areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support in organizing panels, speaking engagements and events related to PSEA and the Championship. This will include support in preparing related concept
notes, talking points, communications materials and reports.
- Support on organization and preparation for internal and interagency consultations and high level events on PSEA and the PSEA Championship.
- Support in preparing briefs, talking points and other communications as related to the WFP Championship.
- Document implementation of Championship priorities and global/field-based events to capture achievements, lessons learned and frequently asked questions
in order to present to internal and external audiences.
- Support with implementation of WFP Priority areas, as required.
- Engage with other WFP's functional units, RBx and COs and build positive and effective cooperation and relationships internally within WFP, and externally
across the United Nations and with the Rome-based Agencies to align messaging and activities, as appropriate.
- Support the Ethics Office PSEA Unit within the scope of the PSEA portfolio, as required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Timely successful preparation of panels, speaking engagements and events. Including related concept notes, talking points, communications materials
and reports.
- Mapping of monitoring of relevant events, deadlines and reporting timeframes.
- Regular briefs, talking points and other communications.
- Regular reports on the implementation of Championship's priorities and the global/field-based events for the purpose of capturing and documenting
achievements, lessons learned and frequently asked questions.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Bachelors University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing,
Communications or other relevant field
Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge & skills: Demonstrable report and presentation writing skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences.
Ability to collect, collate and analyse data in an efficient and effective manner.
Ability to produce outputs independently with minimal supervision and guidance, while at the same time communicating with supervisor, team and relevant
parties.
Experience organizing events, panel sessions and/or webinars.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English. Working knowledge of another official UN language is preferred.
