Vac-11374 Sbc Social Mobilizer - Ari Response

The SBC program in UNICEF Afghanistancurrently uses a third-party company (LTA with CTG) to manage a network ofSocial Mobilizers (SMs) who are contracted to conduct community engagementsessions. This modality has technical and administrative/operationallimitations, as the TPC plays merely the role of a recruitment agency with noability to provide technical backup support, liability to facilitateprogrammatic support to SMs in planning and implementing Community Engagement(CE) sessions nor in resolving issues SMs face in the field. 

SBC Extenders have been supporting the overallmanagement and implementation of SBC interventions through Social Mobilizersand have good technical and background experience, as well as they haveestablished good working relationships and coordination with the linedepartments.

Scopeof SBC Social Mobilizers for ARI response:

1- Facilitate coordination and connection, communityanchoring, and linkages between the community resident, service providers, andother community platforms. 

2- Communityengagement and social mobilization.
3- Conduct/facilitatethe AAP interventions and social listening activities.
4- Reporting and documentation of interventions.
5- Monitoringof interventions and coordination

Activitiesand Tasks to be performed by SM:

• In close coordination andsupport of SBC extender preparation of a detailed monthly work plan forthe grandmother group on the provincial level  
• Close coordination with healthShura, CHSs, CHWs, Nutrition Counsellors, School management Shuras,community influencers, Madrasa teachers, and FHAG to support ARIactivities.  
• Regularly attend monthlymeetings of local health shura and share the issues and progressupdates.

• Conduct and attend regular meetings to discussARI-related issues with SBC Technical Extenders and SBC IPs monthly and ad hocbasis. 

• Conducting and facilitating follow-upmeetings with community influential people and networks within the communities.

• Conduct and facilitatecommunity engagement sessions with households and communities on life-saving behavioursas well as healthy and protective behaviours related to Acute respiratoryinfection.

• Provide information about availability andutilization of services to communities.

• Inform communities about the available mechanisms and channels to provide feedback on available services.

• Engage community structures/ key influencers and communities in collecting/responding to community feedback.

• Prepare activity report according to the established format and submit it to his/her supervisor.

• Identify the best success stories of SBC interventions, collect testimonies from beneficiaries and submit them to the supervisor for further documentation.

• Monitor and supervise the SBC interventions and ensure the implementation of the activities base on the plan SBC and 

• Follow up on the distribution of relevant supplies to households.

• Ensure local coordination and collaboration with key actors (s) such as the de-facto authority, CSOs, and others.
