Position Summary

The JFK School of Psychology and Social Sciences (JFKSOPSS) at National University seeks applications fora part-time research support assistant position. This is a temporary position funded on a NU internal grant provided by the Faculty ResearchSupport Award (FRSA) and/or the Templeton Foundation Grant. The research support assistant will be responsible, in collaboration with andunder the oversight of the Principal Investigator (PI) on the grant, for identifying and completing all tasks that lead to the project'ssuccess.

The part-time research support assistant will serve as a support assistant to the PI and Research Assistant In tasks relatedto the success of the project. The candidate will collaborate with the PI and other team members to identify tasks and strategize operationsto achieve successful completion in a timely manner. The part-time research support assistant will provide intellectual support to thefunctioning of the grant project, but ultimately follow the decisions of the PI and/or team. The candidate will work autonomously forsubstantial lengths of time.

Essential Functions:

  • Transcript and Code Qualitative Data.
  • Contributeintellectually to project processes and outcomes.
  • Assist with literature review for research / publishable documents along withother documentation and paperwork as needed.
  • Implement project tasks including data collection (e.g., surveys and interviews),transcribe and edit, analyze, and store participant data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor'sdegree preferred in cognitive science, psychology, biology, or related fields.
  • Experience with the methods of experimentalpsychology and mixed methodological research approaches preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a technology-drivenenterprise preferred.
  • All skills, abilities, and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Skills in Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analysis using NVivo, SPSS, orother data analysis software.
  • Transcription Skills.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Critical-thinkingand decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide timely, accurateinformation on a variety of academically oriented subjects to both internal and external constituents.
  • Experience in healthcaresettings preferred.
  • Ability to participate as an active team member of the team and organization and work toward a common goal.Contributes fully to the team effort and plays an integral part in the smooth running of teams without necessarily taking thelead.
  • Accepts personal accountability, proactively seeks resolution for personal limitations head-on; and supports honesty andrespect towards others, the company and oneself.
  • Actively seeks to influence, build effective relationships, and gain alignment withpeers, functional partners, and/or external partners to accomplish business objectives.

  • Work independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team ofdiverse cultures, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and frequently changing priorities.
  • Intermediateuse of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. Experience using Student InformationSystem (SIS) such as SOAR/Peoplesoft systems.

Location: Remote

Travel: Travel required as necessary (e.g.,conference presentations).

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary basedon a candidate's qualifications, skills, and competencies.  Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary withinthis range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency.
