This is an exciting opportunity to NRC Germany foster strategic relations with German donors - particularly GFFO - for building internal capacity and maintaining a help desk on donor related issues.

What we are looking for:

NRC Germany is seeking ahighly qualified “Senior Institutional Partnership Advisor” with experience in working with German donors from a humanitarian/development organisation and/or from a donor administration, either at Head Office/capital or field/embassy level. 

What you will do:

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

  • Development of and leading implementation of NRC’s engagement strategy for GFFO on programme and advocacy.
  • Lead the strategic engagement with GFFO including advocacy to ensure alignment with NRC’s policies in terms of Principled Humanitarian Action and Humanitarian financing.
  • Assist with similar tasks for other German Institutional donors; foundations; corporate partners as assigned.
  • Coordinate donor relationships and ensure regular reviews of performance/activity implementation for grants where NRC Flüchtlingshilfe is the grants holder, focal point for proposals, reporting and other grant related donor communication.
  • Visit NRC Country offices to provide project-specific technical guidance on rules and regulations specific to German donors and to monitor projects funded by German donors.
  • In addition, it is expected that the IPA covers for the Head of Partnership and Programmes and other staff of the grant and partnership unit of NRC Flüchtlingshilfe Deutschland as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • 7 - 10 years of experience in working with German donors from a humanitarian/development organisation and/or from a donor administration, either at Head Office/capital or field/embassy level.
  • Experience working with the GFFO as a humanitarian donor, including with large multi-country projects.
  • A thorough understanding of Project Cycle Management, especially of the logical framework approach.
  • 5 years of relevant experience from the project management in the humanitarian sector.
  • Good understanding of donor rules and regulations.
  • Skills and experience in report and proposal writing.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills (data and financial).
  • Native language level German and excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • A conscientious and structured person with strong planning and administrative skills, including above average computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • Right to live and work in Germany.
  • Knowledge of GFFO including strategic priorities, organisational setup, and funding mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of GFFO and other German donors, including strategic priorities, organisational setup and GFFO mechanisms.
