The Associate Director, Systems Engineering is responsible for owning and advancing compute infrastructures products for a subsidiary department and driving alignment and adoption of Enterprise standards. This role will partner with Architecture and Enterprise Engineering to set the engineering roadmaps for Server Infrastructure. This role will lead team of engineers and service provider partners to support existing infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Database, Cloud - AWS/Azure) and build out to meet immediate business needs as well drive alignment and adoption of Enterprise Infrastructure. As part of this role, you will meet with customers, vendors and other IT partners to produce the best possible compute products at the best price. Producing speed to value for your customers will be one of the key metrics.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspires and supervises a team of talented engineers
  • Prioritizes projects and technical resources
  • Oversees a managed services vendor to meet contract obligations and SLA
  • Interacts with other leaders and the enterprise team to collaborate on projects and work activities
  • Enforces established IT policies and provides approvals for introducing changes into the environment
  • Collaborates with the enterprise security team to improve security posture and remediate vulnerabilities
  • Engages in high severity problems during business and non-business hours
  • Partnering with business continuity team on disaster recovery exercise and strategy
  • Assists in tracking of software licenses, assets in CMDB, and maintenance support renewals
  • Serves as a technical resource to evaluate solutions and makes recommendations

Required Qualifications
  • 6 or more years of Systems Engineer experience in design, analysis, configuration, and maintenance of complex systems software solutions, based on a thorough knowledge of systems engineering and programming concepts and techniques
  • 2 or more years of management experience
  • 3+ years with supervisory role and 10+ years of working in enterprise infrastructure environment
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Knowledge and technology exposure in the areas of server virtualization, storage, data protection, disaster recovery, cloud and database
  • Experience in system life cycle management including upgrade, patching and firmware update of hardware and operating systems
  • Good oral, writing and presentation skills
  • Familiar with system monitoring tools such as SCOM, Solarwinds, Dynatrace

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with Vmware, AIX, Windows, Linux, Terraform, Ansible
  • Cloud provider experience in Azure, GCP or AWS
  • Experience leading a Kubernetes environment
  • Ability to work in an Agile methodology
  • Exposure to HIPAA and SOX regulations. Familiarity with healthcare claims, EDI transactions and API is a big plus
  • Experience with disaster recovery exercises and strategy

  • Azure and AWS clouds with two active applications in Azure and 26 EC2 instances with a few RDS databases in AWS
  • 100+ MSSQL virtual servers with 800+ MS SQL databases
  • 500 Windows servers, 15+ Linux servers and one iSeries server
  • Cisco UCS server infrastructure, VMWare, Pure storage, Rubrik data protection, NetApp NAS and Cohesity
  • SCCM, SCOM, SolarWinds, Microsoft Windows toolsets and services

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$139,500 - $192,000 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
