As a nonprofit organization dedicated to financial empowerment and community development, we are committed to making homeownership accessible and sustainable for all. We are seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our team as a Fund Development Director.

Position Mission: The mission of the Fund Development Director is to secure both grant and debt capital necessary for Homewise to achieve its mission. This position requires working with individual investors and organizations in the philanthropic, corporate, and public sectors to establish relationships, submit proposals, and raise capital. This role requires the ability to raise funds from various sources: complex government funds, local and national philanthropy, and impact investors.

The Fund Development Director is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, lead, and track annual plans to secure revenue from public, private, and corporate sources.
  • Lead efforts to identify and pursue impact investment opportunities that align with the organization's mission and financial objectives.
  • Manage impact investment transactions, including structuring deals, negotiating terms, and monitoring portfolio performance.
  • Seek out and develop new public and philanthropic funding partners that further the goals and mission of Homewise. For example, expand proposals and requests to municipalities to increase subsidies for Homewise borrowers and our development projects.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with investors, financial institutions, community partners, and other stakeholders to support fundraising and investment activities.
  • Publicly represent Homewise's compelling mission to potential investors at convenings locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Raise the national visibility of Homewise by working across teams to publish our work vigorously, speak at national panels, and pursue high-profile awards.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Policy teams to tell the story of Homewise and its impact, developing messaging and materials that effectively communicate a call to action.
  • Expand the number of investors and size of investments in our impact investment funds.
  • Work closely with the Grant and Impact Investment Manager to ensure the grant application/proposal process meets the overall funding goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief External Affairs Officer and leadership team.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of capital raising in the areas of financial stability, affordable housing, community development, and/or economic development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the social impact resource development field.
  • Experience with green building and energy retrofit initiatives is a plus.
  • CFRE Certification preferred.

Work Schedule & Location

  • Either our Santa Fe or Albuquerque Office.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.

Physical Requirements.

  1. No specialized physical demands beyond occasionally lifting files or objects up to 20 pounds are required to work in this fast-paced office environment.
