Hardware Lab Test Engineer

What you'll do: The position is for a Hardware Lab Test Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Bangalore, Karnataka.  This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus on being the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market.  The Hardware Lab Test Engineer will be an integral member of a team responsible for testing complex server designs to meet customer and business needs.  These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands.  The role also entails testing and debugging unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions.  

Required skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in science / Electrical/Computer Engineering. 
• 3+ years of in-depth experience in testing x86 architecture and hardware design.  Server testing experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and testing experience in DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C along with High-speed PCB design and signal integrity will be an essential requirement.
• Executing test plans for high-speed interfaces on Intel CPU/Chipset and IO components.
• Develop and implement validation strategy for platform hardware qualification.
• Work with hardware, BIOS, HVM, and functional teams on implementations and recommend solutions.
• Use standard lab equipment for measurement and characterization, and automated test systems. Maintain platform configuration as per Intel BKC and maintain Lab Test equipment as required.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to triage and resolve complex hardware issues, working seamlessly with other engineers on problem investigation will be essential.
• Perform HW rework as required and create debug setups for engineers to validate.
• Interact with cross-functional teams to provide system validation/verification status, create and update test reports.
• Expected to maintain lab inventory, ship/receive packages, and order samples as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, potentially including customer engagements, and executive updates.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and self-directed; passionate about learning new technologies and skills.

Preferred skills:

• Hands-on experience on Intel server platform validation
• Previous experience in High-speed board Verification and validation, DC Power circuit, and/or PCIe bus testing and validation.
• Experience executing electrical or HW verification validation.
• Experience creating test plans and reports.
• Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization.
• Proficiency in shell scripting (BASH/Perl/Python and Windows Power Shell)
• Good oral and written communication skills
