Redwood City, CA - Hybrid RoleJob Summary : Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will lead and provide scientific leadership and support for compounds in various stages of clinical development and future approved products in the Diabetes Therapeutic Area.
This individual will be involved in integrated strategic planning and execution within Global Medical and Scientific Affairs, as well as with partners in the US Commercial organization, Research and Development, and Market Access, and will lead US medical team activities for Type 1 & 2 Diabetes.
This individual will work closely with the Global Medical Affairs team to support and prepare for the US launch of new products and label expansion.
Responsibilities : Lead and support the development and execution of medical strategies in close collaboration with Medical Directors and Product Leads within the assigned therapeutic area.
Ensure effective evidence generation, medical education, training, and scientific communication to drive launch excellence.
Partner with leads and cross-functional leaders in Research and Development and Commercial to lead and execute medical tactics in the assigned therapeutic area aligned with the strategy.
Support the development of robust publication and congress strategies for assigned therapeutic areas in partnership with cross-functional leads.
Lead and support the development of a robust engagement strategy with diabetes thought leaders and build advocacy with top-tier individuals.
Generate actionable insights to aid the medical, clinical, and marketing teams identify gaps and influence drug / brand development.
Serve as the subject matter expert for internal and external programming, including symposia, advisory boards, and steering committees.
Support strategy development for investigator-sponsored studies within the assigned therapeutic area and support the evaluation of company-sponsored trial design and execution.
Qualifications : Prior Medical Affairs experience, minimum 10+ years preferred, with a focus on diabetesAdvanced degree (MD or PhD) in a health-related fieldExperience and understanding of diabetes drug development.
Previous pharmaceutical industry experience is required.Knowledgeable of competitive products and their application.Strong expertise in the conduct of clinical trials, with proficiency in critical data review and interpretationProduct lifecycle management experience is highly preferred.
Good understanding of Medical Affairs and comprehensive understanding of the compliance issues concerning MA functionSupport successful cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams in a changing competitive environment, changing product technology, and changing customer needs.
Excellent communication and organization skills, including presenting to large groups, facilitating interactive discussions, and 1 : 1 scientific discussions with thought leadersDemonstrated customer focus orientation and credibility with customers.
Knowledge / application of data sources, reports, and tools for creating solid plansAbility to successfully collaborate in a diverse work group, motivate, and maximize productivity.
Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills and solid experience translating medical / clinical information into Medical Affairs strategies.
Able to think strategically, have good leadership skills, efficiently manage time and priorities, and be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
