Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate Infra Technology Specialist to join our growing and dynamic team! This role will be for Cognizant's Infrastructure practice.
What You'll Do
- Maintains smooth operation of multi-user Unix computer systems, including coordination with other IT functions.
- Support the requests of the users and solve any problems related with the Linux servers and workstations.
- Installs, operates, manages, and maintains hardware and/or software, including administrator and service accounts.
- Working on UNIX server builds (Linux & AIX), server retirements, OS upgrades, troubleshooting issues escalated from L2 team, part of project team and helping in setting up the infrastructure projects. Contributing & working on continuous improvements initiatives & automations.
- Maintenance of system documentation, tuning system performance, backup/recovery, and other planned configuration changes.
- Interacts with users and other stakeholders to plan and implement changes and deliver support.
- Contributes to evaluation and recommendations for vendor products.
- Responsible for managing the disk space as well as the back up
- Manages and monitors policies and standards for the use of computing resources and executes on programs and projects within a specific IT function.
- This position is responsible to deliver Unix server support operations running critical business applications.
- Candidate will support production & nonproduction systems,
- Play SME & Technical Lead role resolving complex incidents, ensure high availability and zero business impact. Supports multiple OS like AIX, RHEL, Solaris. Working on end-to-end Server Provisioning, Infrastructure release patching & upgrades, Hardware Migrations and Server Decommission. The team also responsible for managing the configuration management tools such Puppet, Ansible.
- Planning, AIX RHEL, Solaris Servers Provisioning, Upgrade, Patching, decommission of unused Servers and Hardware, Capacity Management, Maintenance, finding innovative idea and implementing through Ansible, Puppet, Scripting automation
- Candidate will be coordinating with Infrastructure teams like Storage, Backup, Network, and different application teams.
- Application Owners, Architects & Infrastructure teams are the stakeholders.
- Candidate will work on problem tickets, continuous improvement initiatives & automations.

Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto.
