Background

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are core principles at UNDP:  we value diversity as an expression of the multiplicity of nations and cultures where we operate, we foster inclusion as a way of ensuring all personnel are empowered to contribute to our mission, and we ensure equity and fairness in all our actions. Taking a ‘leave no one behind’ approach to our diversity efforts means increasing representation of underserved populations. People who identify as belonging to marginalized or excluded populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Learn more about working at UNDP including our values and inspiring stories.

UNDP does not tolerate sexual exploitation and abuse, any kind of harassment, including sexual harassment, and discrimination. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.

UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. Working with our broad network of experts and partners in 170 countries, we help nations to build integrated, lasting solutions for people and planet. UNDP has been working in Panama for 50 years and, under the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is supporting the country in the reduction of inequality and access to opportunities for sustainable development with more equity, balance and environmental sustainability, with greater social, ethnic, cultural and territorial integration and cohesion.

To this end, we want to consolidate UNDP's position as a key partner for the public, private and civil society sectors in the implementation of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, and for the organization to be recognized for its global character and thought leadership in the areas of equity and social inclusion, governance, access to justice, citizen security, environment and climate change.

The Panama office is divided into 3 clusters: Inclusion and Equity, Sustainable Development and Voice and Democracy, with interventions related to gender equality incorporated in a transversal way. Among others, in these areas we promote human rights, citizen security, access to justice, access to basic services, institutional strengthening, incorporation of the environment in solutions for economic growth and social welfare, among others. The operational framework of the programme responds to the country's priorities and is structurally linked to the United Nations Assistance Framework.
